Candied Turkey Bacon

Candied Turkey Bacon! 

We eat Turkey Bacon in our house.  We usually find Wellshire Farms Brand and they have a few options: Classic Sliced Turkey, Peppered and Sugar-Free Dry Rubbed.  The Sugar-Free PALEO option has the cleanest ingredients: Turkey, Water, Sea Salt, Celery Powder, Paprika, White Pepper & Onion Powder.  I used this bacon to make these beautiful Candied Turkey Bacon Appetizers.  They are certainly sweet and some may enjoy this as a special treat for breakfast.

Candied Turkey Bacon

Ingredients:

 1 Tablespoons Organic Coconut Sugar (low glycemic option)
1/4 Cup of Organic Pure Maple Syrup
1 Package Wellshire Farms Turkey Bacon (Paleo first choice, Classic Second Choice)

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a small bowl, mix together the maple syrup and coconut sugar.  Lay the bacon in a row and brush mixture on the bacon using a pastry brush.  Bake for 30-40 minutes,  or until the bacon is slightly crispy.  *Any cooking time beyond this you will want to monitor to prevent the edges from burning.
3. Allow the bacon to cool slightly and roll-up and secure with a toothpick.
4. Garnish with dried Rosemary and serve as an appetizer, garnish for a special meal, or as sweet breakfast treat.
