Sleep Better- Improve the quality of your sleep

Sleep Better!!!!  Who doesn’t want that!

We all want to sleep better- it is crucial for good health.  I once read that not sleeping well was like eating fast food every day!  Your body can handle a few rough nights here and there but in the long run it wears your body down way doooown.  Maybe you are a student, have a demanding career or you are meeting the needs of parenting…. you still need to sleep!

For menu planning you plan: list, shop, prep, & cook.  For sleep you should plan, shop, prep and relax.  Shop for sleep?  Yes!  Organic pillow & linens, non toxic spa products, essential oils and a diffuser.

*Health-care professionals can discuss nutrient deficiencies, stress influences or other causes of non restful sleep and provide a sleep protocol.

I personally noticed a HUGE change in my sleep- or lack of sleep- when I removed dairy from my diet.  I noticed more improvement when I removed grains one by one.  The biggest trigger grain was WHEAT!  

2 Week Challenge

Week 1: Remove all Dairy

Week 2: Remove all Grains

Then evaluate your sleeping patterns. 

A few things additional that help me relax are:

  1. Chamomile Tea
  2. Bone Broth
  3. Reading
  4. Warm Baths
  5. Epsom Salt Baths infused with Lavender Essential Oil

 

Diffuser with Oil Blends

Cedarwood, Lavender & Orange Essential Oils diffused on bedside table.  I use Young Living Oils because they oversee their farms and use clean organic techniques like hand weeding!

Other relaxing oils are: Peace & Calming, Stress Away, Vetiver

*you can also dilute these supportive oils in a clean carrier oil like Jojoba, Almond, Olive or Coconut and rub on back, neck or feet

There are also great uses for these oils individually! 

  • Orange: Use orange in cooking- sauces, smoothies and baking.  Orange is also great in water (be sure to use a glass or stainless cup).
  • Lavender:  To relax, for spa products and to alleviate bruising.
  • Cedarwood:   Use in a roller ball right before a test or a conference to help relax and focus.
