Caramel Sauce- Paleo & Clean!
Oh my it is that good!!!
It was good the first time I made it but it wasn’t thick enough. This time I have my recipe perfected and it is (other than my family) the highlight of my day!! Literally I had a kitchen failure at dinner but yippie!!!! Dessert saved us! It was just one of those days that totally deserved Caramel! My new saying “It’s a Caramel Kind of Day” 🙂
This is worth making often- it is almost like striking gold in the kitchen!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup honey
1 1/2 tablespoons of palm shortening
1/2 cup of full fat coconut milk
1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
Instructions:
1. Bring the Honey to a low boil in a sauce pan over medium-high heat. Simmer for about 6 minutes stirring occasionally to ensure even browning and a dark amber color. It is gorgeous!
2. Remove pan from heat and carefully whisk in the Palm Shortening, Coconut Milk and Salt.
3. Return to the heat and continue cooking for 15 minutes.
4. Let the mixture cool to room temperature than store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. To reheat you can run jar under hot water or reheat over double boiler before serving.
I have used the Caramel in and on coffee, desserts, by itself ? and tonight on baked pears! Yum!
