Clean Eating Snackable Apple Chips:
Ever had a HUGE bag of apples and you know they are about to start get too ripe? Here is a quick dehydrating recipe to keep in mind. I have a large 6 tray dehydrator. It is big- so when I use it I make a lot. I love it for drying large batches of herbs just before the change of seasons. Rosemary all day- it smells so good! Today I found that I bought an extra bag of apples so I got out the Mandoline Slicer, the Dehydrator, Cinnamon, Rosemary, Salt and Olive Oil. That’s it… and only because I made two different versions. I am always experimenting.
Ingredients:
8 Organic Apples (Remember Apples are on the Dirty Dozen List- so you want to buy Organic if possible)
Cinnamon
Honey
Sea Salt
Olive Oil
Dried Rosemary
*You can use other spices like ginger or clove too!
Instructions:
- Slice the Apples carefully using a Mandoline (this works best so they are all the same thickness(
- Remove the seeds or the whole core. I used the stem portion of a kitchen funnel- works great!
- Toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and honey (optional) or olive oil, sea salt and rosemary.
- Arrange in a single layer in your dehydrator or onto a parchment paper-lined baking pan.
- Run dehydrator 150-160 until they are crispy. This takes 6-7 hours, depending on the conditions.
*Alternatively you can use your conventional oven
Enjoy!!
