Are you ready to feel amazing?
I am starting to feel amazing… more than in my mid 30s. Keep in mind that I had 4 children then… but still I am telling you… YOU CAN FEEL AMAZING AGAIN! Once you begin taking a look at THE BIG PICTURE and making your health a priority… you will notice some positive changes in a relatively short period of time. Our bodies do need more support as we age…. but my shout out to you is “YOU SHOULD NOT FEEL HORRIBLE”. AND….You can feel better in your 40s and beyond than you do right now!!!!
Speak life over yourself and know that a combination of these ideas below can really make a huge impact.
I set out to make a short list of 50 ideas of things to help support your body to feel amazing… and it ended up a little bit longer. Because….. you are going to pick what sounds achievable and challenging for YOU! Obviously (by the number of bullet points) my area is FOOD.
Supportive Changes for a Better Feeling YOU!
1. Food:
- Drink only water and perhaps one cup of supportive coffee without missing out on your favorite barista -style flavors!
- Rotate your proteins and limit red meat and less you’re finding that you your body can handle it.
- Pinterest is a great FREE tool to help you plan your meals ahead of time- don’t go to the store hungry but with your menus and shopping list ready to go. You can easily build a board called “Weekly Recipes” or “Like” some options if you are new to Pinning. Touch the heart and that means you like it.
- Make a list of local clean eating restaurants that you can visit with your friends. You can search in Google- “Healthy Restaurants in YOUR CITY” and this will give you some ideas when your friends ask that question… “Where would you like to go?” Remember….When you eat out with supportive friends they’re more likely to eat like eat like you.
- Find out where the closest health food store is in your town or city. Some stores like Whole Foods have coupon apps now!
- The old saying breakfast is the most important meal of the day is true make sure that you have an adequate amount of debt easily digestible protein in the morning. Pancakes are always a comfort on a weekend! Smoothies are quick and easy and grab and go muffins make it easier to run out the door!
- Check out some appliances and products that might make clean eating & living even easier like an air fryer and Insta pot of water filter an aqua sauna shower filter and more check out the cleanly consumer product page for just some small suggestions.
- Buy fresh don’t intend to shop for the entire week and one grocery store trip it’s OK to go to the store and plan meals for every 2 to 3 days if necessary prep ahead of time.
- Don’t forget your freezer your freezer can help you pack and prep and freeze meals it taste just as tasty when you put them in the crockpot or put them in the oven. Consider Glass Lock Storage Containers!
- Consider adding more seafood to your diet one great option is Rosemary & Honey Wild Caught Sockeye Salmon. It is easy to prepare and can be completely done and 10 to 20 minutes depending on how you like it cooked.
- When it comes to potluck you’ve just scored because you can prepare one big meal one big entrée so that you know you can at least eat one thing a good thing to opt for is a salad. You can tell the ingredients and you can make your own salad dressing. I personally like a chopped salad with a homemade dressing!
- When it comes to salads there are several different kinds of leafy greens- Spinach and Cabbage are both rich with nutrients and Romaine tends to store well and is versatile. Iceberg makes a great shell for tacos and quick salad wraps!
- When dining out at a new place go ahead and pack a few things in your bag. A snack bar on the way….Epic Brand or Larabar are two brand options). Pack a homemade dressing and a sealed tightly glass jar if you’re on the road. You can order a burger off the menu, remove the bun and ask for ask for large leaf lettuce or on top of mixed greens and drizzle your dressing over the burger.
- Find some new products at Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Costco or Central Market. Adding variety keeps it inspirational and you don’t want feel like you’re eating the same thing every time. CHANGE IT UP!
- Try and drink bone broth with each meal breakfast lunch and dinner and before you go to bed if you don’t have time to make it you can now find it in stores bone broth or you can order off Amazon and Amazon pantry. I like the Bone Broth Protein from www.draxe.com and you can order off of his site directly or on Amazon.
- Consider Low Glycemic Index sweeteners like: Agave, Coconut Nectar or Monkfruit.
- There are brands of low acidic copies like pure roast coffee or cold brew coffee. I’ve heard of people adding a pinch of baking soda to their coffee I don’t know if this is healthier longer at a time but if you’re really needing that cuppa coffee and your stomachs really bothering you then maybe here in there every now and then is going to be OK
- Find a local farmers market and try and purchase from the local farmers market once a month. If you don’t feel like you can finish the whole share by yourself consider a friend this will help you find with your friend it will also help you stay on track and save money and share recipes.
- Buy or save up for a Vitamix. I think it is the best blender EVER! You can finance it you can buy them certified & refurbished. It’s a really good way to mix in some nutrients that might be a little hard for you to swallow. A good resource is http://blenderlady.com/.
- Throw away all boxed cereal’s immediately- it is highly likely they are making you feel bad. There are too many reasons to list.
- Make your own salad dressings it’s not hard it’s fun and you really don’t have to follow a recipe.
- Add coconut products if tolerated as much as possible their antifungal and anti-inflammatory.
- Try to eat outside if you can if you don’t get a chance to get outside then consider sitting on the patio and dining out or sitting outside in your yard just for a moment to get outside
2. Getting Fit:
- Ask a gym owner if there is a trainer that can work with you and 2-3 others a few times a week. It makes it more fun, more affordable and more likely to go!
- Going to walk every day walk if you can instead of driving if it’s a short distance.
- Get some sun even if it’s for short amount of time everybody is deficient in vitamin D.
- Seek out outdoor activities on the weekend- a long walk, rent a bicycle, search for exercise videos on You Tube, Netflix….
- FIND FRIENDS TO WORK OUT WITH- Walk & Talk and then make sure you have fun outside of fitness too. Those friendships are amazing! My workout group is The Hot Mamas- we have so much fun! They are an amazing group of women.
- Once a year a good friend and co-Blogger of Bionic Bloom and I go and regroup over a detox thinking outside the box retreat. We met years ago and share the same birthday. We have lots of things in common- one of them being… we want to feel amazing!
3. Healthier Home:
- Get a pet of some kind. I am a dog person (although we don’t have one right now) but don’t feel overwhelmed perhaps a small fish or a frog would be a better fit! We started out with 6 eco frogs and we have 1 that is now 3 years old. Their life expectancy was a year!
- Apple cider vinegar has many uses : cleaning, disinfecting and cooking. I use daily in water, weekly in salad dressings and bone broth.
- Remove as many chemicals from your home as possible these include laundry detergent, toxic soaps , scrubs, all purpose cleaners, window cleaner, toilet bowl cleaner and plug-in room deodorizers. There are “cleaner” options out there. You can use baking soda, apple cider vinegar and water too! I use a natural alternative multi-purpose concentrate that can last our family an entire year!
- Try and use natural products for relaxation – essential oils have been used for support for centuries. Organic, Therapeutic Oils like Lavender, Cedarwood and Vetiver really help your body reset and re-charge.
- Find clean products that you can use in the shower if you can’t find clean products and consider making your own I promise it’s not as hard as you think.
- Think of outside the box cleaning products like carpet deodorizer I use baking soda a jar with a few drops of essential oils like Thieves or Purification and my child’s bedroom is instead of using harsh chemicals. As a child I would break out in a rash with the store bought deodorizers… it was a sign way back then! I use a Spice Lid from Jarware that works perfect on standard mason jars.
- Consider your bedding…dye free organic cotton with a high thread count = better sleep!!! Read the labels for care & washing instructions and they should last you a really long time. A great investment!
- Look at all the labels on the items in your house….toothpaste label is always eye opening. It probably has a warning label that says in case of ingestion call poison control or call your doctor immediately…. that’s not a good sign. Every person can tolerate a different amount of chemicals. You can make your own toothpaste ! I make my own and I also use Young Living Slique Toothpaste for kids because they love the way it taste.
- Get some plants in your house! They breath life into you and your home.
- Find out where the closest health food store is in your town or city. When you travel- find one!
- Conduct an inventory of a clean items (cleaning, supplements and pantry staples) that you use on a regular basis. Schedule them for delivery on Amazon or Amazon pantry. You will receive discounts and it will be delivered to your door… and keep you on track!
- Have a quiet place in your house or you can retreat even if the rest of your house is really messy one place that’s always picked up. I often retreat to my daughters room because it is nice and tidy all the time.
- Baskets baskets baskets…. they make everything look pretty and help you organize your clean eating pantry. You can put potatoes and other root vegetables in some and cleaning supplies in the others. Mason jars are non-toxic and are a great option for cleaning supplies.
- Consider a small herb garden in your backyard! Some are pretty hearty and easy to manage especially Rosemary and Basil. I mix distilled water and Purification Oil in a glass spray bottle and keep the bugs away- NATURALLY!!
4. Happier You:
- Plan a vacation even if it’s just one night in town. There are some health focused conference centers and hotels. Take a swim, sauna, work out and take a long walk….and without a doubt SLEEP IN!
- Make a priority to wake up with a moment of faith prayer yoga stretching and meditation. Select a devotional that is a good fit for you. One of my favorites is Pressing Pause– you can order on Amazon!
- Have a date night is much as often. Even if it is over lunch hour or a coffee meeting spot. You need to continue to date 🙂
- Have friends that keep you accountable. If you are starting a detox or a fitness plan ask them to join in! Text during the week for check-ins and send emojis! They really do help!
- Have a morning ritual that your body can remember . A little apple cider vinegar & water, stretching and prayer before you shine your big smile and set start your day off right!
- Go ahead and plug into social media….ONLY IF you are comfortable with that it. It can be a good resource & tool…. help keep you informed and up-to-date with technology. Pick one and see how it goes: there are plenty of choices out there Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Fox News Alert Apps and much much much much more.
- If you have a friend in your life that does not help cheer you up, lift you up and encourage then maybe it’s time for a break. I did say break not a break-up because sometimes you need just a little bit of space. We all need space sometimes.
- Write a letter…. not an email… not a talk text not a phone …especially to your friends that are older than you. It says…. I took the time to think about you…I sat down, wrote and mailed it because you are special to me!
- Get creative and inspire inner child with coloring. It is therapeutic and stress reducing. Not into coloring? No worries.. there are many ways to let out your creative side… sketching, journaling, doodling, painting, clay, pottery… shine rocks! Something!!! It is an achievement at any age.
- If you don’t have children consider volunteering or spending time with children. Little ones can think you are amazing, they love for adults to spend time with them and children look at things with a child like faith- it is refreshing.
- Get involved with the church or an organization that helps & serves. Serving others also lifts your heart.
- Find a group of ladies that you have something in common with like quilting, sewing, running, or a book club. If you can’t find one- START ONE.
- Start to remember peoples birthdays. I was never good at this. Shout at to Facebook for Birthday Alerts! It makes you feel good to remember things and honor your friends that support you.
- Make list…. make lots of list of what you want to accomplish. Some achievable and some challenging- you can check those off and feel like you are accomplishing every day. You are your own cheering section here!
- Call your mom call ,your sister, your grandmother, your aunt…. call any woman relative that you can think of at least once a month.
- Say I love you to your spouse every day even if you’re frustrated. It is love that will make you do it 🙂
- Hugs are important! That was short 🙂
- Laughter…. laughter is medicine. If you can’t find anything to laugh at think of silly things that you’ve done in your life.
- Look at old photos of fun times in your life and be thankful for those . Tape some on your mirror and get back where you started.
- Make your bed every day it’s the first thing that you do that start your day with a sense of accomplishment and tidiness.
- Find a gym or personal trainer call around to find the best pricing because of that it’s always going to be encouraging. Try and recruit a couple of friends to get the price down and keeping motivated.
- Make a list of 100 things that you would like to do a bucket list for only you not your family.
- Make a goal storyboard on a poster board with all the things you would like to cheat for the year and that way we need to look at it you can have something to hold and look at that is not on electronic device. Hang it in your pantry door hang it on the garage door hanging in your closet or on your bathroom here
5. Supportive Health Care:
- Research options for a dietitian with your health insurance.
- Make sure to stay on top of your annual appointments for anyone physical about Woman’s exam dermatologist and other necessary appointments.
- If your goal is weight loss consider removing Foods that might be intolerable and calls information and water retention in your body. 70s might be wheat other grains eggs milk dairy or even some “healthy foods that might not be healthy for you. - But for some now available blood testing like micronutrient test from Spectra Cell Labs or a food intolerance test by Oxford Biomedical you can contact these companies to find a location or provider in you that might be able to write a prescription for these tests for patients.
- Find a vitamin or supplement regimen that works for you with the support of a dietitian or a doctor and then stay on that routine maybe part maybe suggesting a vitamin box to keep you organized to make it happen. Set it beside your coffee maker or somewhere that you go first thing in the morning with a little food in your stomach.
